I've decided quite spontaneously to take a mini-vacation before the craziness that is summer starts. I'm still undecided as to what I'll be doing but... here's some of my inspiration. I blame the beautiful nights we've been having.

Soooo... This is one of those times where you make something, and want to post it right away, but never really get around to it until ridiculously later. Or maybe I'm the only one who does that... Anyways!

A few weeks ago was Cinco de Mayo (see what I mean about late?) so in honor of this holiday, I made my very own papel picado banner. I've seen these beautiful creations everywhere, but i never thought of making them.

 (from mexicansugarskull.com)

But when I found this tutorial on Style Me Pretty, I knew I had to try. And I'm so glad I did.

The banner is hung over my bed, and every time I look at it I smile. It's like I have a party in my room every day!  I couldn't think of any pretty designs (read: I wasn't brave enough to try anything REALLY intricate) so I went with my initials... unfortunately that means every time I look at it I feel a bit narcissistic, haha.

And yes, I have like 3 Star Wars posters in my room. More nerd cred?

I hope your day is a happy one.

I got this cute little lacy vest thing from Goodwill. I love it.

Okay, so, I have to admit... I'm kinda addicted to the Sims 3. It's nice, cause I can dress up my sims all crazy-like, with super expensive clothes I wish I had but could never afford. And they always have the most very awesome houses.

I had been seeing sims magazines around the internet (some great examples are SF magazine and Living Sims), and I was immediately drawn to the notion that people were actually producing something creative with their addiction.

So one day I started taking screen shots... and then I started arranging the screen shots in publisher... then I had an inspiration for the title... and before I knew it I had a 35 page magazine! So I packaged it up and published it on this sweet site called Issuu.

So without further ado, here is my Sims 3 Lookbook-style Magazine:

And just because the outfits were being modeled by pixelated people doesn't mean they can't be replicated in the real world. I would like to think that it's a good resource to look at it if you're stuck in a style rut, or just simply bored.

I hope you have a productively addictive day.
