I thought I wouldn't be sketching as much this summer because I don't really have to dress up for work, but it seems that I was wrong. I'm okay with that.

Have a great day.

Okay, a couple of weeks ago I showed some of my wishes for what would happen on my mini-vacation. Well... the vacation that I got was better anything I could have dreamed up. Which is sayin a lot.

I had decided that we didn't have enough time to plan correctly for camping, so I was trying to think of some other things to do. My boss suggested Wildlife Prarie Park, mentioning that they had some unique sleeping accommodations (you'll see more about that later). I got online and decided instantly that that was where I wanted to go.

For the first part of our adventure we stopped at a beautiful rest area and had a picnic. The weather was gorgeous, and I had packed a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. They were yummy.

Then we moved on to the park. The place I was so excited to stay in was... wait for it...

A caboose! It was in a line of four cabooses (caboose?), but we got the last one, so we had an awesome view of the pond. The inside was decorated with train memorabilia, there were working lanterns on the outside, and even a option to make the caboose rock as if the train were moving. We tried it, of course, but found that it kinda makes you nauseous after a while.

We also explored, and saw a lot of amazing animals. On the way back from one of our hikes, there were two elk right next to the road (fenced in of course). We also saw bobcats, bald eagles, a badger, and maaaany more. But no bears or wolves, which disappointed me. The picture below is of the bison. Since there were newborns in the herd, the adventure bus wasn't running. I guess that gives us a reason to go back!

And this is my favorite shot from the trip. My boyfriend had that red hat on whenever we were outside. It looks pretty gaudy, but it grows on you after a while. Haha!

On the second day it was too rainy to do any real exploring, so instead we went to a wine tasting at Kickapoo Creek Winery.  For $5 you get five tastes of wines of your choosing, and you get to take home a wine glass. The wine was fantastic, and we took home a bottle of  one of our favorites. The food was just as good as the wine.

All in all the mini-vacation was astounding. I had so much fun. I would recommend any of the places we went in a heartbeat.

I hope your day is full of adventures.

hair inspiration

Every once in a while (and by that I mean every 6 or so months, almost like clockwork) I need to change my hair. It's like an addiction I have. I never do anything too dramatic... my senior year I did bangs and red hair (they called me Mary Jane for the rest of the year), and I've had blue streaks quite a few times. In the more recent years I have just taken to cutting it off when I got bored, but this year I promised myself I'd grow it out. So I'm back to dying it.

I was always quite fond of the blue... it made me so happy when it fell into my eyes... so I think I'll be doing something with that.

Still unsure what though. I've gathered a bunch of images that make me all fuzzy inside. Maybe when I see them all together I'll be inspired? If not that, maybe other people could leave some ideas. :]

ten things I don't need

Okay, so I've gotten to the point in my life where I'm really satisfied with what I have. I honestly couldn't ask for more. But my birthday is coming up, so here are some things that I don't need, but I think are very, very cool.

(I'm really intrigued by the fermentation process. Once I even tried to make my own wine... it was horrible. Not a good hobby for someone with no patience. Maybe I'd be more successful with this?)

(I don't even have anything to link a QR code to. But if I did... I would be all over this. The QR scanner was like... the first app I downloaded for my phone. It's just such a cool concept!)

(This is the weird thing that always comes to mind when people ask me what I want. But how do you say that to someone without sounding like a huge nerd? "Well, I really want this space age ant farm..." )

I hope you have everything you need today

...and maybe some things you don't. :]
