To celebrate my blog makeover (and because who actually needs a reason to make sweets?) I made some themed cupcakes! As usual, my cupcakes are complicated, have too much food dye, and are yummier tasting than they are looking. But it was fun to make them. And photograph them. And eat them. Eating them was especially enjoyable.
To add a little bit of color to my cupcakes I mixed some food coloring into a few different bowls of batter. I layered white batter, colorful explosion extreme batter, and then white again.
The result wasn't quite what I wanted, but it was still cool. You can see from the pictures that it still did some pretty neat things with the colors, but the last layer of white batter really squished the effect. I might do this again with three layered small cakes and make a Katherine Sabbath inspired creation.
